The day I was born.

I felt peace again for only a second before I jolted awake, sitting upright in a tiny wooden room with a curved ceiling, rectangular in shape. The bed I was laying on was against a wall, with only enough room for a small wooden chest, a set of drawers and a small rug to make it feel warmer. A single window looking out was on the same side as my bed, as I looked around I caught a glimpse of movement outside but when I looked outside all I could see was the green grass and cobblestone walls of the countryside.

I've never been to the countryside, I only saw videos of it on TV where people hiked through the fields and over hills just for fun. I always wanted to visit but for whatever reason we never did. I was so lost in thought I didn't even hear the door open and almost jumped out of my skin when someone started speaking. "You're awake!" I spun my head to look at the source of the voice, it was a... Fox? The fox stood there on two legs, fur white as snow and standing roughly at five feet tall. It wore a ragged dress with a frayed bottom that reached it's knees. It's voice was soft and femanine. I must have been starring as it looked away. "S-sorry, you probably don't know where you are or what's going on-" she began, vaguely gestering towards the room. "-This is my caravan, you were brought here by Servare. He said you needed help so we did all we could to help mend your wounds." That name... Servare? Why did that feel important? I probably looked very confused as she stopped to go over it one more time.

I was brought here by someone named Servare, I was gravely injured; broken bones, large open wounds, slipping in and out of conciousness about to die. I didn't understand how they could heal someone that badly beaten but she assured me I was on the mend. "It was touch and go for a while, you were screaming in your sleep the last week or so before you woke up-" I cut her off before she could finish, a week? How long as I out? "You've been here for a few months now, 3 or 4 I think. We've been trying to make sure your muscles didn't atrophy by performing massages every-" Her voice faded away as I felt the world spin around me, 4 months?! I was out for that long... How? One second I was there with the angel and the next I was here, no dreams, no memories. Just a snap of the fingers and 4 months of my life were gone.

"My name's Trixy" The fox said. I opened my eyes, like I was summoned back into reality, the room was no longer spinning but I felt sick as I slowly turned in my bed so my legs were hanging over the side, facing her. I explained how I felt and told her the last thing I remembered, the battle between massive monster and angel, and the angel shielding me from something just before everything went dark and I woke up here. "Oh that... Servare never told me what happened that day. Maybe you should look at something, but I warn you it's not pretty" She lifted a rolled up newspaper from on top of the drawers and handed it to me, it was well worn as if someone had gone through it over and over again, the pages were falling off of the staples that held it together. In big bold letter on the front it said CITY DESTROYED. NO SURVIVORS. I stared at the image of the ruins that used to be a city until it finally clicked where it was... It was my city...
